Utility and incentive context
Texas does not have one statewide retail net metering rule for every customer. Solar export value depends heavily on the electric provider, municipal utility, co-op, or retail electric plan, so buyback terms should be checked before using savings estimates.
- Texas solar incentives are usually utility-, city-, co-op-, or program-specific rather than one statewide residential rebate. Check DSIRE, the utility, and the customer city or co-op before publishing a rebate amount.
- Texas does not have a broad statewide residential solar sales tax exemption to rely on for ordinary home solar quotes. Check the invoice, equipment classification, and any local or business-specific tax treatment before quoting tax savings.
- Texas Tax Code Section 11.27 provides an exemption for appraised value that arises from qualifying solar or wind-powered energy devices used primarily for on-site energy production. Property owners generally work through the local appraisal district.
